Sorry we have been closed for the months of January and February. We are inside the new shop
almost daily, painting the walls, cleaning the carpeting, the ceiling, getting ready to set up, and yes, also outside
shoveling snow--a lot of snow. Our plan was to reopen on March 3, but... It is the first of March now, the snow
is melting here in Bedford, and that is not such great news. "Water, water, everywhere," even inside
our new shop! So we have to take care of it first, then set up, then open. We hope to open in a few weeks,
or early April at the latest. And I do want to believe in what they say: "a bad beginning is a good
ending."
Our new address is 117 South Richard Street, next-door to where we were. Our email address
and phone number will both remain the same at our new location.
It happened by chance—or
good fortune… On a weekend trip while visiting friends in the area, we discovered Bedford, a beautiful
small town tucked into the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania. We have now moved to Bedford and opened
a shop we named A Touch of Serendipity, because:
--I
like the word “serendipity” and use it often.
--It was serendipity that while visiting friends in the area, we discovered Bedford.
--When you visit our shop, you might
accidentally find something you are not looking for. That’s what serendipity
means: accidentally finding something while looking for something else.
In these hard economic times, we do realize now might not be the best time to open a new
business, but we truly believe things are going to get better soon. Another reason we're opening a shop now is because my
husband has had it hearing me talk daily about an imaginary shop.
We have lined up a group of talented artisans and crafters from the region who will restock on a regular basis.
We will also be carrying quality yet affordable finds, unique items that will be brought in from time-to-time and occasional
vintage furniture pieces. And what we carry will continuously change.
We are not set up to take credit cards yet, but shall do so sometime soon. Instead, you’ll get our low
prices that you will continue to get even after we start accepting credit cards.
